What if I haven't danced before?

If you have never danced before, our fun Beginner Course is perfect for you as it is a step-by-step introduction to dance and is designed for the absolute beginner.

Do I need a partner?

Students are not required to have their own partners. Our courses are designed around individual learning, coupled with other students participating in the course.

How do I Enrol?

Enrolling and paying for your Adult Beginner Course is easy: take advantage of the early bird offer with the online pre-payment option on the Beginner Course page. 

If you wish to enrol now and pay when you arrive, simply email our friendly team to register your spot.  

We offer convenient in-person payments for EFT, credit cards and cash. 

 

What shoes should I wear?

For your first few lessons, you are welcome to wear sneakers while you learn your first steps.

Both men and women are advised to wear comfortable shoes that allow freedom of movement. Low heeled shoes for the ladies and comfortable shoes for the guys as sometimes joggers can cause you to stick to the dance floor when turning.

Traditional Ballroom & Latin American shoes have suede soles and can be purchased at First Class Dancewear, conveniently located on Anne Street, Aitkenvale.

What clothes do I need to wear?

Wear comfortable clothes which you can move in. Men are welcome to wear shorts. Sleeved shirts for both men and ladies are recommended for all Ballroom & Latin American Dance Classes.

If you are sensitive to cool air conditioning, please feel free to bring a lightweight jacket.

What should I wear to the barre class?

Wear either a leotard, fitting t-shirt or cross over tops. For your legs - yoga pants, tights, bike pants or gym shorts for men. For feet either socks or ballet shoes if you have them.

Do I need to bring anything special?

To make sure you stay hydrated, you are welcome to bring your drink bottle. 

On your first night of class, we ask that you bring your enrolment form with you. (For your convenience, an enrolment form will be emailed before the course starts, or you can simply fill one out at the studio.)

Our studio is fully air-conditioned. Please feel free to bring a lightweight jacket if you feel the chill.

Where is the studio located?

The studio is located in the 'Anastasia Maria Ross Centre' at 33-37 Aitken Street and the corner of Casey Street, Aitkenvale. We are easy to find and only a 4-minute drive from Townsville Shopping Centre. 

There is plenty of on-site parking. Drive into our private car park through the large yellow concrete gate posts and enter the hall through the archway doors.
